How We Research and Choose Products

This page explains how Organic Aspirations researches products and decides what to include in our buying guides. We want you to know exactly what our recommendations are based on, and what they are not based on.

Who we are

Organic Aspirations is a small, independent website about organic food, supplements, personal care and home products. Our guides are written by Eliza Ward and Pavneet Lobana.

We do not test products hands-on. We do not visit stores, and we do not use third-party testers or labs. Our guides are based on research: we gather published information from manufacturers, certification bodies, regulators and health authorities, compare it, and explain it in plain language.

How we research products

For each guide, we look at the following:

  • Manufacturer information. Ingredients, materials, sizes, servings and directions, taken from the manufacturer or the retailer listing. When a detail comes only from the manufacturer, we say so (for example, “the manufacturer says…”).
  • Certifications. Where possible, we check certifications in the certifier’s own database, for example the USDA Organic Integrity Database, the Non-GMO Project, NSF Certified for Sport, USP Verified, Leaping Bunny or GOTS. We also explain what each label covers, because each one certifies something specific and none of them is a general safety or health rating.
  • Safety rules and recalls. We check U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalls and warnings, and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalls for non-food products.
  • Health and safety guidance. For health topics, such as supplements, infant feeding or skin conditions, we follow guidance from authorities like the FDA, the National Institutes of Health (NIH, including its Office of Dietary Supplements and NCCIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Owner feedback. We read public reviews from buyers to spot common patterns, such as recurring complaints about taste, smell, packaging or customer service. We use this as background, not as proof.
  • Price. We compare price per serving or per unit where it makes sense.

How we choose products

We compare products on criteria that fit the category, such as ingredients and what is left out, certifications and what they actually cover, serving size or amount, price per serving, and whether the product is currently available to buy.

We do not give products numeric scores, star ratings or percentages. A product’s position in a list is not a score. We leave out products that are under an active recall, or that we cannot find reliable information about.

Health and safety content

When an article includes health or safety information, we check each claim against authoritative sources, such as regulators, government health agencies and professional medical organizations, and we link to them so you can read the original guidance yourself. We do not say that a food, supplement or cosmetic cures, treats or prevents a disease.

Our content is for general information only and is not medical advice. Please talk to your doctor, pharmacist or your child’s pediatrician before starting a supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medication, or are buying for a child.

Updates and corrections

Products, prices and guidance change. We update articles when a product is discontinued or recalled, when prices change significantly, or when official guidance is revised.

Each article keeps its original published date. The “Last updated” date changes only when we make a real change to the content.

If you spot an error or out-of-date information, please tell us through our Contact page. We review every report and correct mistakes.
