Eczema basics
  • Fragrance-free, thick moisturizers applied right after bathing help many people.[1]
  • See a doctor for flares that don’t improve.[1]

  • Moisturizers like these are sold over the counter; see your doctor or a dermatologist if eczema flares, spreads or doesn’t improve.[1]
  • Plant Based Creams – Creams containing ingredients such as Chamomile, Calendula, Aloe Vera, Honey, and other such plant-based components can moisturize and soothe the skin, but most still contain synthetic preservatives and emulsifiers, and plant ingredients can cause skin reactions too.[2]
  • Using natural Humectants and Emollients or soaking in moisturizing baths are the most commonly used remedies.

  • Coconut Oil Massage – Coconut Oil replicates the fats and oils that dry and cracked skin lacks. It can be used all over and as often as needed.
  • It can be applied directly.

What the Research Says

The FDA doesn’t define “organic” or “natural” for cosmetics; a product can carry the USDA Organic seal only if its agricultural ingredients meet USDA standards.[2][3] Plant ingredients can still cause allergic reactions, and fragrance is a common cause of skin irritation.[4] Cosmetics can’t legally claim to treat or cure skin conditions; products that do are regulated as drugs.[5]

How We Chose These Products

We don’t test products hands-on. We compared labels and listings: ingredients and fragrance, what any organic claim covers (USDA seal or third-party certification) [6], skin type, and price per ounce. We removed products that were out of stock, no longer listed or recalled, and we checked the brands we list against recent CPSC [7] recall notices in October 2026. In our October 2026 review we removed Green Leaf Naturals and Dr. Organic Manuka creams (fragranced), Era Organics Soothe Redness Cream (a botanical-heavy rosacea face lotion rather than an eczema cream) and The Honest Company Eczema Cream (no organic claim on its listing). Brands don’t pay to be included, though we may earn a commission from purchases.
